4k or 1440p?

I've just finished my first build and now need a monitor.
I'm torn between 4k and 1440. The more I read the harder it gets.
refresh rates, response time etc
Money isn't an issue however I don't necessarily want to spend 1000 bucks on it.

This will be purely for gaming I might add...

Thanks
Aaron

Some of what I read on 1440p suggested it doesn't scale well. Especially with formats that are only 1080p.
Also hardware isn't an issue, I can run anything @4k comfortably. Theses are the pros cons i have so far.

4k
Pros: Resolution, less AA needed
Cons: Refresh Rate, Price Vs Content, better panal released in the next few months (shoot me now)
1440p
Pros: Cheaper, 144hrtz, Ultra Wide monitors, BenQ have a freesync monitor (AMDs G-synch answer)
Cons: Resolution, 1080p content scaling, price compared to 4k
Unless you have a Titan X in your rig or similarly powerful card(s), there will be few recent games that you'll be able to run at full settings at UHD.

Look into the Acer XB270HU: it's 144hz, 1440p, IPS, 2.75ms response times with no input lag, has G-sync and costs $800. I don't think there's a better gaming display out there right now.

Well its all up to you. Do you want eyecandy or do you want smothness. I still suggest you get a 144hz monitor. As it does give you a slight edge above you oppnnents, where 4k does not

And yes that monitor seems like a nice one. Id say you should get it. Only thing i dont like about it is the 4ms responsen time. Still worth it though
