4K Quality question

I'm currently working on getting a 4K build with 2 980tis. I do know how taxing it is to run that. I'm only able to afford one 980ti now. So in the mean time when I'm changing game settings. Should I go for higher setting, lower res. I.E. 1440p at high settings. Or lower settings High res. I.E. 4K at lower settings.

Which would give me a higher quality gaming experience

Keep the res @4K but lower the settings and turn off AA as it taxes the GPU and to have it on really doesn't make much of a difference in quality (IMO). A single GTX 980 ti 6gb should be able to handle Med/High settings @4K/60hz.
