Owned this LG Ultra HD TV for years. First used my PS4 with it, and I noticed there was a delay straight away compared to my previous TV.
It's been years and I've gotten used to it now.

Recently I tried hooking up my TV to my PC to play games on a bigger screen and a much higher quality. And gosh darn does it look good. But it comes with a price, lag/delay's.
Is there a way to figure this out so it runs smoothly, or this this a thing for regular TV's. It's about 50 inches too.
I'd assume it puts some strain on the PC. Games have crashed after about an hour when using the TV.

Thanks

Solution
TV's use hdmi as input. You need hdmi2.1 to run 4k@120hz
That is not on GTX1080, you need a 3000 series card.
Plus, you need an ultra quality hdmi cable.
What is the refresh rate on your tv? Also what is your pc setup and what gpu are you using?

gpu: Geforce GTX 1080
cpu: AMD FX 8350
16 GB ram
can't remember motherboard if that matters

Not sure about the TV. Can't find any numbers or letters on the side of the TV to look up. I'd assume 60. I don't think higher.

Edit: I found my tv on the discontinued page on LG. And it's TruMotion 120Hz. I had no idea lol.

You can look at settings on your tv to see if there is a gaming setting. Also check your Nvidia control panel and see what kind of resolution and refresh rate it will allow you to set it to. There a many 3d settings in the panel that you can experiment with also. But older hd tv's are notorious for lag because they weren't really built for aaa gaming.

On the control panel I set the tv to 4k 3840 x 2160 before. Highest refresh rate was 60.

I set the picture mode on the tv to 'Game' just now.

Yes so you are asking alot of your cpu at that resolution. Your gpu is up for it, just don't know what games you are playing. You can also try to go down to 1080p and see if it plays smoother.
I know :) I've never experienced this resolution before. It's very exciting lol.

Well I've tried out Fallout 4, Forza 4, The Outer Worlds and Cyberpunk. All run as they did on my normal PC monitors.

No difference bringing the tv down to 1080p

When connecting to a TV from a PC, it's important to make sure you do the following steps:

1: Make sure the input you connect to is named "PC" (or similar), which disables most of the TVs post-processing.

2: Make sure any other post-processing (Truemotion, etc.) is disabled.

Hi. So I have to name my TV 'PC'? I'll give it a try if its possible, but I don't think my TV is advanced enough to change settings for a pc.

Most TVs for a good 10+ year support renaming of the HDMI ports. Those that don't tended to reserve one of the ports for PC use. Regardless, when configured correctly using the PC input essentially shuts down most of the additional post-processing TVs do that add a TON of delay that would otherwise make then horrid as PC displays.

Well I had a look on the TV's settings. I couldn't find any option to rename.
