Or drop the GPU down to a 1050 Ti and add a better CPU cooler and a large hard drive to store your videos.

8 cores > 6 cores for video editing.

Ryzen stock cooler is very good and you can get a decent OC out of it.

32 gigs of RAM at a faster speed (3000Mhz).

But, only a 250gb ssd vs his 1 TB. But majority of the files go on the HDD anyway.

Still a 1050Ti. Good quality PSU. OS included.

X470 mobo.

Thanks for all the help guys! One last thing, both of you are suggesting a Ryzen system versus an Intel, as I said, I'm clueless, what is the benefit for going Ryzen over Intel?

Really, both are nearly equal. But for video editing, rendering or AutoCAD type work, Ryzen 7 takes the cake for more number of cores. Its SCP is also getting closer to Intel's, so much so that in gaming performance difference tends to be a maximum of 10 to 15 FPS off, and when you are dealing with FPS numbers in the 100's, this small difference will not affect too much.
