Recently I have hooked up my rig (i7, 1080 Ti) via HDMI to my Samsung UE55RU8000 TV. This TV supports both 3840x2160 (“4K”) and 4096x2160 (“Cinema 4K”) resolution. However, when I switch back and forth between 3840x2160 resolution and 4096x2160 (without changing ANYTHING else) I see a big difference in color and contrast.

As you can see the colors and contrast on 4096x2160 are much richer better than on the 3840x2160 resolution (HDR is off in both cases), this is also the game when gaming. This drives me nuts!
How is this possible ? How can I get the nice color and contrast of 4096x2160 for the 3840x2160 resolution?

Any help is much appreciated!

If you go into your TV settings, there are usually a number of image options that adjust the colour saturation and so on. I think in the 'Cinema' mode the TV defaults to a different profile - this should still be available in standard 4K resolution (on my Philips TV it's named the Vivid colour mode).
