Hi I will be building a gaming pc soon and was thinking about 4k display
So how much better is 4k vs 1080p I will be playing current and future games at the max resolution and FPS.
I am also thinking of buying a chandhon 50 inch tv/monitor to game on

Solution
If you plan on 4K you wont be playing at max setting above 25FPS. Its not a good resolution for gaming, too hardware demanding and expensive. (It takes a 970 to run some current games well on max settings for 1080p)

If you want to game at good settings get 1080p or 1440p.

Listen, 4k looks awesome, it's 4x the resolution of 1080p. However, it is Much harder to drive. What's you're GPU situation? because unless you have/plan to get 2 gtx 980's, 2 gtx 970s, or an AMD R9 290x2, than I would not recommend gaming on a 4K display. And even with 2 970s you wont hit 60 fps in some games. < and that is not at max settings.

Mixing up terminologies will confuse you. 4k = 2160p.

Take note - 2160p is new. It is expensive. You're talking $800 for a 28", which is as much as an entire build for many folks.

I wouldn't count on that. The 590 only has 1.5gb VRAM which will NOT be enough for games like BF4, Crysis, Metro, etc

Gaming at 4k isn't ready yet, imo. I've got three GTX 780s in SLI and an Intel core i7-4930k OC'd at 4.5GHz. I can't even do 60fps in Far Cry 4 on the "High" setting. I'm also having issues with mouse lag for some reason on 4k.

As others have said. 1440p is a really good option. It looks a lot better than 1080p in my opinion but the monitor is a lot cheaper and it's not nearly as demanding as 4k gaming. Unless you have the best graphics cards around possibly in sli, trying to game in 4k is not that great of an idea in my opinion.

There are some good, cheap korean 1440p monitors on ebay for around $275-$400 that are worth looking at.

If you can't afford a GTX 780ti, you can't afford 4k gaming.
