The Hitachi 4 TB GPT drive worked flawlessly for months in a NAS RAID1. Suddenly it fell out of the RAID array showing 2 TB not 4TB. The NAS utility tested for bad sectors for the 2TB showing on the drive with no problems. The drive test good but with only 2 TB.

The drive was transferred to Windows and Disk Manager was used to delete partitions, re format, and once again set as GPT. The drive still shows 2TB. What happened to this drive and What is the next step to enable the full 4 TB?

Thanks for the suggestion. The drive is clearly labeled as 2 TB. It was sold to us as a 4 TB drive and it installed and worked in a RAID 1 configuration till the NAS complained with beeps and error messages.

From now on I will have to check the labels on the drives that I buy. BTW, this drive was one of three that we bought all together. The other two drives are properly labled as 4 TB and seem to be working fine - so far, knock wood.

Thanks again.
