4tb seagate says its full ....Mac says i have 3.65 TB left

I just purchased a seagate 4TB for mac. I added some files and when I started to run a backup through Time Machine I am getting a message that the drive is full. When I check the storage it says I have 3.65 TB available. Please let me know if anyone has suggestions. Thanks. Cara

I'm not normally a mac user, but the only thing I can think of is that the drive hasn't been partitioned properly by your MAC. Have you got your OS installed onto that hard drive or is it elsewhere?

would be my internal hard drive I think. But this drive is for a MAC.

it's probably just the mac not recognising the hard drive properly. Try to format the drive and if that doesn't work it will need to be partitioned. Be sure to have a back up of the files elsewhere because they will be lost when formatting or partitioning.
