Hi,
considering getting a 4TB samsung qvo for mass storage. Wondering if Crucial or any other maker is intending to release 4TB or above models anytime soon.
Anyone heard anything? I'm impatient to get rid of internal HDDs (like all of us) and this would replace one of the two i have in my system (a 3tb & 6tb).

Western Digital announced one April 2018 - https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/wester-digital-starts-offering-wd-blue-4tb-ssd.html
Samsung announced one in August - https://www.samsung.com/us/computin...es/ssd-860-pro-2-5--sata-iii-4tb-mz-76p4t0bw/

Sandisk announced a prototype 4tb USB Drive but its not same really

I can only find those 2 4tb ssd so far.

Thanks. Wasn't aware of the Western Digital. It's TLC so thats something to consider but i'll be pricier and a mass storage drive isnt going to get too many rewrites. The Pro will cost a fortune.
I might bite the bullet on the Samsung QVO. Amazingly ebay is the cheapest with 10 - 20% discounts and Samsung also has a cashback offer on at the moment. Brings it down to approx $500 AU ($350 US)

really, i would want 2 of them, only as one would be a backup of the other. Losing 4tb of data would hurt. Long ago I lost 3o gb of data, that was enough to make me always have backups of everything, multiple times.

But I don't need 4tb drives, I hardly use my 2tb drive I have now.

$500 for a drive is enough to make me wait a while :)

backups can be slower, IMO, so no need for the $350-$400 expense of a 2nd 4 TB SSD for any RAID 1 copy, IMO....(the 4 TB 860 QVO is still showing $497 on my Amazon)

And 4 TB drives are now down to only $110 in WD Red flavor...

I have backup HDDs via a dock so all good. Im a storage hog and save movies &TV shows (no to netflix) and dont want to run an external nas. Granted i didnt need an ssd but glad to be down to just one internal HDD (and 7.5tb of ssd space).
I just blew a ton. Got the QVO, a 2tb 970 evo plus to replace the 1tb 970 evo i had (i'll sell on bay) and a MSI gaming x 2080ti (sell the 1080ti, geez they are holding their price, i'm set to make a profit from a purchase in 2017. Unbelievable).

Took advantage of the great ebay deals and the samsung cashback. Still the credit card is weeping. (Quiet you!)
