4th gen or 6th gen?

I've been searching the web for weeks now and spent countless hours finding out which chipset is best for gaming and surfing the web. I am a huge AMD fan, although I've come so far that I have decided to build an Intel based system (I'm torn apart by this conflict). I recently found the 4690k for 20$ less than the 6600k, which I originally decided to buy. What CPU is the best for gaming and surfing? My max for the whole system is 1900$.

I would go with the 6600k much more future-proof and more programs will be optimized towards it.

Building from scratch without re using the RAM or motherboard, I would use the Skylake CPU and motherboard. The difference between the 4th and 6th generation i5's when clocked the same is very little. Z170 chipset boards have many good features and faster DDR4 RAM can make a big difference in some games and applications.
