Question 4x3 DDR3 RAM ok to use?

I want to up my RAM, but only can afford one stick of 4gb RAM right now. Will it work or will I need to buy another stick?

You can try, but there's no guarantee the new stick will play nice with your current RAM.

The thing about RAM is that with every batch made, there will be very tiny differences, normally these differences in hardware are often too small to cause any problems but that doesn't mean they're unlikely to cause problems. You can buy another stick but there is a very small probability that it will affect your RAM speeds, timings, etc.

Additionally, if you're running 3 sticks of RAM, then it will likely be forced into single-channel mode, thus hurting performance. You need evenly matched pairs to run in dual channel mode.
