4x512mb or 2x1gb ?

I have an Abit kn8- sli with 1gb (2x512mb) OCZ platinum pc3200 ram. I would like to go to 2gb. If I add 2 more stix of 512mb, will I take a performance hit versus 2x1gb set? I would really like to keep my old OCZ ram as it's really good stuff. I know the older n-force 2 chips didn't like using 4 dimms, but I don't know about the n-force 4 chips. I believe that memory timings will be higher with four sticks of memory versus two sticks. I don't know how much it will impact overall system performance.

wd 160gb sata 7200 16mb
old soundblaster audigy
xfx 7600gt (just one for now!)
have had the athlon up to 2.88ghz, haven't hit 3ghz yet
