I am new to color printers. I have an Epson Stylus C86. So far, I have only printed
4x6 prints. My problem is that there are white borders on the left and right sides of
the prints. I want borderless prints.

How do I set the printer, or something else, to make these white borders go away?

Thank you,
Hoyt W.

Under printing preferences, check the box that says "Scale to fit media"

Hi Ron,

I am unable to find "printing preferences" and I have never seen a box which says
"Scale to fit media" I have searched for both. Please walk me through to the
printing preferences location. Thank you.

You should have the choice when you go to print under printer, preferences,
then under page layout or paper, paper options, sometimes it is on the main
page for the printerthere should be a check box that says borderless. Be
aware when printing borderless it enlarges your image slightly. If you have
details around the edge you may lose it when printing borderless.

I have done all that. I checked Borderless and and made other selections. I still get
the white borders on the left and right sides. I am stumped.

Are you certain that the paper is really the size it is supposed to be? One
package of 4x6 paper was really 4.5 x 7.

Jim I had not thought about that. I just measured the Epson paper with a Starrett
rule. It is exactly 4x6 inches.

There are two different 4x6 papers. One has perforations and one does not.
Are you picking the right one in the paper menu?

I am using Epson "Borderless 4"x6" Premium Glossy Photo Paper". It is not perforated.
I am picking the correct one in the paper menu.

6 x 4 prints are at a ratio of 1.5, check source picture could be at a ratio
of 1.33 this will create left right white borders on a borderless print.
Diagonally stretch photo, before you print, this will solve problem with
slight top bottom cropping.
