[SOLVED] 4x8gb Corsair vengeance blue screen

Hi,

I was running 2x8GB of Corsair vengeance 3200mhz and was working fine at that speed using xmp profile, I added another 2x8GB of the same RAM and i just kept getting boot failure until it entered stock settings then it would boot, I tried 3000mhz and was the same, I eventually got it to work at 2933mhz and has been working for a few weeks this morning I got bsod so lowered it down to 2866mhz and it booted fine could this be a problem that my MB cannot handle 4x8GB past a certain speed?

MSI b450m pro-vdh plus
Ryzen 5 2600 stock speed
4x8GB Corsair vengeance lpx

any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Mixing RAM always has a risk of issues, it doesn’t matter it’s the same make and model. Only RAM bought as a kit is guaranteed to work together. It’s also less likely you will be able to hit higher speeds when running 4 dimms.

Will I see much of a difference running 4x8GB @ 2866mhz rather than 2x8GB @ 3200mhz

Doing what? If gaming what gpu and resolution are you running? Why not try your own testing, go back to 2x8gb and try 3200 vs 2866.

Mostly gaming gtx 1660ti 1080p but I do a bit of video and photo editing in premiere pro and photoshop.

Thanks was a good watch so not much difference after 2666mhz then that’s good to know.
