5.1 Audio on GA-MA74GM-S2 Gigabyte Motherboard

Hey, I'm very computer illiterate, so I apologize if I'm missing any information or asking a vague question. I've been wanting to expand the sound quality on my PC, mainly for music. My computer is a little older, so I'm not sure what capabilities or limitations it has. I have a GA-MA74GM-S2 Gigabyte motherboard. When I searched my PC for the sound card, it says "ATI HDMI Audio" and "High Definition Audio Device". I want to get a 5.1 sound system but I don't know if my PC will support it or what I can do to make it compatible.

If anyone is familiar with this I'd be grateful for any help on the matter.

That's the audio chip on your ATI/AMD graphics card, but the motherboard also has it's own integrated sound card (Realtek HD) which supports a 5.1 or even a 7.1 surround speaker system:

Great news! Do I need any software to set up the 5.1 sound? Also, would I need an adapter to change the inputs to 5.1 (if there is such an adapter)? I don't think the back of the motherboard has 5.1 jacks but I'm not 100% on that.
