I have a study room wired for 5.1 surround with the 4 surround speakers in the ceiling and the center channel at normal sitting height. Does anyone else have experience with a similar setup for PC gaming? I'm curious if wall mounted speakers at normal height would be better than the ceiling speakers, or would it not really make much of a difference?

Also, if I use the ceiling speakers would it be better to leave the center channel as is or have that installed up in the ceiling too?

Solution
Normal height for main surround sound. I think the ceiling speakers were intended for Atmos which is actually a pretty cool thing to have implemented in this room.

Haven't really looked into it much, i know the avr must support Atmos to use extra speakers. Not sure if the extra speakers need to be wireless or can be wired directly to avr or to something else which then connects to the avr wirelessly maybe, im not sure. Would have to see how an Atmos capable avr would be configured with Atmos speakers.

My 1080p avr, the usual 7.1 setup, is still pretty good for my needs watching movies or playing games. Latest Star Wars Rise of Skywalker on Bluray has Atmos track offering additional sounds. It's a feature i can't use but yeah the content also has to support Atmos.
