Hello, i would like to ask the community if is it possible to connect 5.1 speakers from a home theatre like this : http://www.theatresystem-manual.com/lg-lh-cx246.html

It is just rebranded under other name, we never use it in home, and i am needing new speakers to my pc, so it would be awesome if it works.
I have no receiver/dedicated sound card/amplifier. The outputs/inputs i have are:

PC: hdmi from graphic card (hd7950)
SPDIF OUT from motherboard

Home Theatre:
VCR in/out
ANT.IN
RF.OUT
S-VIDEO OUT

I dont know anything about this, i would aprecciate any help on this matter. The info is all providen i think, don't hesitate in question for more.

Best regards.

The SPDIF is the ideal connection, but at the very leaset you could take stereo audio out from the onboard sound via the green audio out (3.5 mm stereo male plug) and hook it to the VCR In on the receiver (2 x RCA Male). At that point you can use different surround effects on the receiver, but at very least you could do Dolby Pro Logic. There are adapters and cables that could do that hook up for you.
The specs listed in the link you provided shows the receiver having an optical connection, make sure its optical in.

Is the SPDIF connection on your motherboard optical? Some times it can be coaxial but most of the time it's optical.

All you would need is an optical cable to run from the motherboard to the receiver then make sure the digital output is the default device in windows playback devices.

First of all, thank you for the answers. I will drop here 3 images of the devices:

The SPDIF out of the motherboard i dont know if it is optical or coaxial. Also , the dvd has no SPDIF input i believe. Maybe i could use any kind of adapter to fit in one of those inputs?

Thanks

Alright. I have a few more doubts, in the description of the product it says i have audio optical, in reality i see no input or whatever in the dvd. So no optical audio.

The last doubt is: I could buy a receiver (anyone would do?) , that supports 5.1 channel. Then i would have real Dolby surround sound? Just by connecting via Optical audio conector from the motherboard to the receiver and its done? Thank you for your pacience.

😀 I like the ideia of the rca adapter, its cheap and efficient, if i get the bass and good sound from it, but i read it is low quality, so maybe one day i would think about a receiver. They are very expensive, but if it works good, and i get true surround sound then it worths. Thank you for the help .
