Yep.
I made an 'oopsie' during maintenance and knocked off a capacitor or whatever for the motherboard's audio processor - now I only get sound through one speaker.
Fortunately, I still had that sound card laying around. Installed it, and now I get sound through both speakers again. No need to replace the motherboard yet!
