Headset: Afterglow 5.1 surround sound wireless transmitter
model : PL-9215T
Motherboard: Z97S SLI Kraith Edition
OS: windows 7 professional
CPU: i7 4770(non k)
hope this helps someone.

Hey guys i am kind of new to PC so maybe i am missing something , i have this problem which has really destroyed my enjoyment of games. Afterglow worked fine on old mobo but recently( 2 weeks ago) i changed my mobo to this current one, i did a clean install and installed all the drivers and all the updates of both windows and motherboard.

I have been playing around with realtek HD audio and settings for sound (configuration and etc etc ) , and i have read couple of threads here in this site and followed them ,and still cant seem to get the 5.1 surround sound working.
The only thing that works is the front left and front right, non of the other speakers shown work, and no matter what i do the headset appears as unspecified on device manager, i have reinstalled drivers many times and also troubleshoot them.
the headset has ONE 3.5mm and a USB cord , i have changed and tried every 3.5mm jack on the rear pc and front , and they all give me same result.

I will appreciate Your effort in reading or contributing in this thread.
Thank you

I am not an expert in this.

Maybe try going with your headset do a local computer store and try your headset with a more professional sound card like Creative Sound Blaster or ASUS Xonar soundcard. And if yes, then maybe you should consider purchasing an additional sound card.

The thing is that it worked fine on my old mobo , and that old mobo only costs around $50 so i see no reason why it shouldn't work on this.

The fact the headset has a single 3.5mm jack and a usb cord means it is not a true 5.1 headset (not that it matters as surround sound in headphones physically can't work anyway thank to our anatomy)

It is a "virtual surround sound" device, which mimics the effect of 5.1 and is heavily software based. In this case, if you try using it in some games which have the 5.1 setting, you will find footsteps or noise coming from behind, will be fed through the rear drivers more than the others in the cup and give the illusion of being surround.

It would have been the same on your old mobo, so don't worry too much about the setup program not playing it through the fake rear left and right channel, as that never existed in the first place.

Yeah true i know exactly where your coming from , but see the thing is fake or not , but it sounded absolutely beautiful , and when you go from that to stereo you will notice a huge difference which really bothers me.
Also the headphones are expensive , it will be a shame if i let it go to waste just like that.

I know the feeling. Try to make sure all drivers AND all firmware (mobo, headset etc) are up to date. Then see if maybe another codec/software could do the job?

Everything is up to date, but when you say another codec/software what exactly do you mean? what steps should should i take ?

I live in Australia,
Thanks ill try that , ill call them tomorrow as they are currently unavailable and let you know what happens.

I cant get in contact with them at all, their live chat is unavailable and there contact number is not working too , i tried both us and eu numbers and at there times aswell , they have no Australian number.
