5.1 surround sound setup on pc

I have the Logitech z906s and they're being used on my pc. I'm having trouble using surround sound! On games like GTA V and Battlefield 1 (They support 5.1 surround) it doesn't seem to work! I downloaded all the audio drivers for my motherboard (asus rampage vi formula). When I go to my sound profiles to change it to 5.1, and when I go to test it I don't hear things playing from my surround speakers nor subwoofer. Please help

If you're on Windows 10, surround sound has been broken since before the official Windows 10 release, was patched and working correctly, then broken again. No clue if it's been permanently fixed since, but I wouldn't spend too much time on the problem as it's been entirely in Microsoft's hands and no amount of driver shenanigans or tongue angle can sort it out. Microsoft is aware of the original bug.
