Hey,

I'm new to audio stuff however i have read guides all over the internet and it's kinda hard to know what exactly i'm looking for.
So i thought its best to ask enthusiasts and professionals here.

I have been using some generic Genius 5.1 for last 10 years and now its time to get something better. As far as i understand from reading guides you can make a Stereo -> 5.1 conversion using Dolby Digital or DTS technologies and i believe this is exactly what i need.
I only listen to music from my PC also gaming and movies and i have to use VoiceMeeter software to convert Stereo input from Spotify/Google Chrome and some games to 5.1 input otherwise its 2.0. Same applies to YouTube so i had to reroute Google Chrome into VoiceMeeter virtual device in order to get low frequencies from subwoofer and make more than 2 speakers work.

What should i look for in order to make it work without using VoiceMeeter, something like "native" way? Is it even doable using DTS/Dolby? I have had some decent motherboards with DTS support in its integrated sound card but it never worked the way i wanted.

I'm thinking of buying Canton 165 Movie as a replacement for my Genius 5.1 also i believe i need a receiver and (new) soundcard?

Some specs just to make sure i gave as much information as i could:
Motherboard - TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS WIFI D4
Also i have a soundcard - SOUND BLASTERX AE-5 PLUS

Sorry for my bad english. Thanks in advance.

The issues you are seeing is that stereo output won't play in 5.1 since there is no rear audio signal to send to it. What you are doing with all those other programs it just playing stereo data to all the speakers, so your left/right audio is just being sent to the rear speakers, actually messing up the stereo imaging from the intended way it should sound.

To get 5.1 audio, you need to set the sound card to 5.1 mode and connect the speakers to the proper outputs on it. Go over the manuals for the soundcard and the motherboard, it will tell you how to configure it for surround sound. Then anything that is actually mixed in surround sound like movies would play the correct audio channel on the correct speaker.
