Hi, first post: I'm getting 5-15% packet loss only over my wifi when I ping my router. No packet loss from my android phone over wifi and no packet loss when laptop is wired to router. This just started happening about a week ago.

Sony Vaio - Windows 7 x64 - Atheros AR9485WB-EG card with updated driver
Actiontec C1000A (CenturyLink) router on dsl

Is this interference? Something with the router?

Thank you!

Solution
Could be the channel your using is getting cross-over from other routers, download and inssider to see which channels are clear in your area.

Thanks. I got insidder and noticed that a lot of other wifi networks in my apartment building were using channel 6 and 11 (like I was) I changed to 4 because nobody was using that channel and still got about 5% packet loss. I then used channel 3 which a few distant networks are using and my packet loss dropped to 2%. However, I'm sitting 15 feet from my router should I be expecting 0% or should I assume my problem is solved?

Any decent network should have <1% packet loss, preferably zero packet loss. I would expect interference to effect all devices, not just one. Can you try a different wireless card? Also, if you just updated your atheros driver, try rolling it back to the previous version.

Thanks. The driver hasn't been updated recently. I'm still getting packet loss. Last test, 26%. No packet loss via wifi on my phone. Ran a ping test on my old mac book. No packet loss but extremely high pings >1.0. Any more ideas?
