Hello,
I currently have a HDD that failed and because of that I want to set up a backup. I only lost my pc games and my save data so no BIG loss but i am still going to try and fix it by switching the disk with the same drive. Anyway my question is I want to use this
https://www.ebay.com/itm/ORICO-9558...hash=item23b27fdd9b:m:mXK_W9Jby2ZvzkKOsFbJRrQ
but this makes the drives show up individually so is their a way to setup RAID 10 using these 5 drives? Also does anyone recommend a backup server build or at least everything except the drives. Is their a better option for RAID 10 because I definitely want RAID 10 system. Thanks.

You would need something like this

https://www.amazon.com/Mediasonic-HFR2-SU3S2-PRORAID-Drive-Enclosure/dp/B003YFHEAC

That one has no RAID capability except though windows which I wouldn't do. The one above, or others like it, can do built in RAID 0,1,10

Please note though

RAID IS NOT A BACKUP SOLUTION! IT IS A REDUNDANCY SOLUTION! RAID is designed to keep you going WHEN a hard drive fails until you can replace it.

Use a separate drive to backup to manually (I have backup drives for each one of my drive that is only out of my safe when I am backing up)
Or get a cloud based solutions. Google Drive/One Drive/Drop Box are also NOT backup solutions because if you erase it from your PC it erases it there as well. A backup will NOT erase a file if you erase it.

Raid 10 cannot use 5 drives since it needs to 'raid 1' pairs of drives and then it puts those pairs into a raid 0 arrray.
The Qnap Tr-004 is a 4 bay raid capable direct attached storage (DAS) unit (USB3.1) that is capable of Raid10.

As for building a NAS, or server, you need to determine what else, besides transferring your files, you need it to do.
Things like trans-coding videos, hosting a game server, Database server, email server ... All need to be known before a suitable build can be suggested. For just file server then a low end pc build is more then suitable.

What you're describing is called JBOD - just a bunch of disks. The drives show up individually when you plug the enclosure into your computer.

It sounds like you're looking for spanning mode, where the enclosure combines the drives so they show up as one big drive. Sans Digital and Mediasonic seem to be the biggest maker of multi-drive enclosures which support RAID and spanning. Dig through their offerings, because they come with a wide variety of RAID and interface support, with higher prices for more support. Don't buy more than you need.

As mentioned above, RAID is not a backup. RAID is for if you want this device to keep functioning even if a drive dies. A RAID array still needs to be backed up. If the data is not time-critical (as is the case for most home uses), then it's cheaper just to do spanning, and back everything up to an external drive(s). If a disk dies or a file gets corrupted, just restore it from the backup.
