I overclocked my E8500 for the first time on an Asus Maximus Formula to about 4GHz. Worked well, fast, then I opened PC Probe II and it said my north bridge was at 50 degrees Celsius. It is usually 40ish. Should I be worried? If not, at what temperature should I be worried?

If you have a standard heatsink on that northie, try adding a small fan on top of it....you can buy them for just a few bux and may extend the life of your mainboard for a bit longer....i agree that 50c isnt too awfull bad but why have it up that high if you can drop it by 5 or 7 degrees just by spending 10 minutes of your time and less than 5 dollars of your cash .....right?

The temp may very well be within limits, but if you think it's too warm installing a fan does help. I've use 40mm fans, tiny o-rings as washers and screws that "bite" in between the heatsink fins. A 100-150 ohm resister in series with the fan's positive lead drops the fan rpm in half where you can't even hear it, yet it still cools.
