$50 PSU for My First Build?

Hi! I'm finalizing my first build, but could use some input as to what PSU I should get. I intend to use this rig for games, games, and more games.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7870 2GB
Case: Inwin GT1 Black ATX Mid Tower Case

I'm looking for a PSU under $50 by a trusted brand. Any and all advice is appreciated.

Apologies for the very noob question, but is a 500W PSU acceptable when my graphics card requires 500W? Would it better to get a 650 or is 500 completely fine?

The system you listed will be fine with 500W. However, I'd recommend bumping up to 600W if you are considering getting a higher end GPU in the future. PSU is the one area I believe in future proofing. A good PSU can last a long time, assuming it can provide enough power for your system.

This one is $55, 600W, and semi-modular. Big plus to have some modular ability.

I based my answer on your 50 dollar power supply but im running a 7950 off the same power supply I showed you so its all good .

A 500W PSU will work, but if he decides to get a R9 280x or another higher end GPU then he will have some issues due to lack of power.

Yes ofcourse then he should go with 1000 watt power supply thats not in his budget hes asking for something around 50 bucks if theres better then the corsair I would like to see it for that price and the 7950 isnt that far away from the r9 280 there actually rebadged 7870 cards so if the 500 watt ps I have will run a 7950 I am sure the 280 will run on this as well .

If he asked a open ended question such as I have 50 bucks to spend right now then later I planned to upgrade then later he could also upgrade his power supply to meet the demands of newer hardware but as it stands 50 bucks corsair with rebate no brainer....

A R9 280x is not like a 7950, it is like a 7970; which consumes more power. Thus, a 500W PSU would not be adequate for this system.

I'm trying to help the builder out with experience and factual information.

Understood you point him in the right direction then I never saw he was going to go beyond his 50 power supply but have at it and help him out I provided the op with what he needed at what he asked for nothing more nothing less .

I have realized that sometimes people are asking a question but don't realize the short coming. So, when I offer advice I try to let you see any limitations in choices. That's why I recommend the 600W PSU for this build. I have a feeling the OP might upgrade to a beefier GPU in the future.
