Hi. New here and would appreciate any advice. I'm looking to build a home server mostly for storage, streaming, backups, and maybe a little recording of live tv. I'm also considering just using my soon to be retired Dell 540s (quad q8300), but I'm afraid it's too noisy and it's power needs are too high.

Approximate Purchase Date: Two or three months from now
Budget Range: $500-600
System Usage from Most to Least Important: network storage, media streaming, system backups, tv recording
Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, optical drive
Preferred Websites for Parts: Anything reputable that has decent customer feedback.
Parts Preferences: At least 4 Tb storage (2 Tb in RAID 1), small attractive form factor, more than two hard drive bays a plus
Overclocking: No
SLI or Crossfire: No

Additional Comments: Would like this to be quiet and low power.

Is windows home server the most stable and easiest to use OS for my purposes? An Imac and Playstation 3 will be on the network.
