I'm looking to upgrade my current, old build but not sure which motherboard, cpu, and memory to add.

I do plan to overclock (eventually) and looking at intel's 4690k, which seems like a good choice.
Main uses would be single monitor gaming along with low intensity stuff (surfing/homework/etc.)
Currently running a gtx 670, not looking to upgrade or SLI that card anytime soon.

For the motherboard, I will have at most two hard drives, mouse/keyboard/wireless adapted on USB, and I will likely stick with the integrated sound on the motherboard if I can (or plug in my old audigy 4 card).

I would love to have some future proofing there though. I will at most run a 2 way SLI in the future, and will be looking to pick up an SSD once m.2 (I'm sure my terminology on that tech is off) is widespread, so a board with those capabilities would be great. Any other bells and whistles, except pertaining to overclocking, will likely be wasted on me.

Additionally, I already have a hyper 212 evo I plan to install for cpu cooling, so you can leave that piece out.

Including shipping (vancouver bc), and any rebates, what do you guys recommend for those components together?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: Expanded on my uses and hopes for the build above :)

Literally any tangible gains at all. Like .5fps gains. If even that. If you want higher performance/cool looking/customizable memory then get Trident x series 2x4gb. Make sure it's 2400Mhz and CAS 10. I have two of these kits and they are amazing. As long as the motherboard supports 2400Mhz you're fine :)

Whenever I go to Vancouver I go to one of the NCIXs. I think you should drive to one if it isn't too much of a hassle. They have some better deals in store sometimes and it's pretty cool to just check everything out.

Memory doesn't really matter. I chose this board because it is a really nice overall package for what you get. Both in features, quality and aesthetics.

That is a really bad idea. You don;t want to overclock on that board. It has really poor cooling and that is literally the worst Z97 board that exists. The CPU cooler is also not that great. You want the Dark Rock Pro 3 rather than the normal one.

Yes it can, but I think it would make more sense to get the 212 EVO since they perform the same.

Heres the NO BS answer:

If you want a water cooler. A 120 MM radiator will be fine, unless you want high clocks.

If you want Air cooling, the Dark Pro Rock 3 will be good, and, from statistics, be fine in 4.6-4.8 clocks.

Tell me your preferred choice, and I'll recommend one off that.

I feel like I'm missing a thing, which board did you choose?

Bossyfins: I'm sticking with air, nowhere near confident enough to try water anything. But I already have a hyper 212 evo cooler I will be using, so I won't need to pick up another.

So going for any kind of higher end memory will have minimal gains? I probably only ask this because I'm new, but when I get around to overclocking the CPU, will I be hitting that 1600 rating and OCing the ram as well? (Not too comfortable on the RAM side yet)
