500 Error when attempting to upload an Avatar

I'm unable to upload an Avatar. I get a 500 error when I make the attempt.

I've attempted various image formats and sizes. 100 pixels length/height or less. In addition, I've saved them as GIF, JPG, JPEG with no luck.
