I currently want to build the best gaming pc possible with $500. I am a youtuber so I record some of my games. I play games like minecraft and ghost recon phantoms on who knows what setting. I want to play games like these on default settings. I also would like intel core i5 or i7, 8GB of RAM, and at leasy 1TB hard drive. I already have a old monitor so i might need a new one. I also have a mouse and a headset.

It'll add around $60 more. It might be tough to do, but if you really want quad core Intel...

Hey, I agree with envy14tpe on the choice of CPU it is a dual core and has a 4MB cache which can take beating and it has Hyper threading which is really good for high end gaming.

At $500, it is really tough to make a good gaming machine if you get a i5. The i5 costs $50-60 more than a i3. If you spend $50-60 more on the GPU then you will definitely get a better gaming experience.

If you really want the i5 then I'd suggest you drop the RAM down to 1x4GB. That way you could buy a second 1x4GB when the time is right. It is easy to add RAM, as long as you buy the same type as you already have. The issue is that it could be hard to find the RAM and at a good price.

That does not answer the question, different games are more intensive on different parts of your PC e.g
Dayz is CPU intensive
rust&minecraft are RAM intensive

Then there are games like battlefield 4 which is intensive for all your PC components.

for these games I would say you are looking at about 8GB of RAM even though Minecraft needs 4GB, Ghost Phantons needs 2GB and Hawken needs 3GB. The reason is so that you can still have things running in the background which wont interfere with you game and your recording software.
