500 GB hard drive showing 40 GB in my computer

Hi friends,

I have 500 GB of USB Hard Drive I don't know what happened to it but now it showing 40 GB in my computer, how can I get back my 500GB hard drive...

I have very important Data in it...Please guys help me....

Probably this is due to virus/malware attack. Pl try to clean the system using antivirus.

use a partition tool like easus partition master free to see what partitions you have and what they are allocated as.sounds complicated but i believe easus has a tutorial included with the program.

Sorry Guys, No luck were found while trying above two solution... If you have any other Idea please suggest to me...

Pl use any partition utility to check the health and contents of your disk. Also pl check in Disk Management Console of your windows, what does it is showing?

run diskmgmt.msc to check the windows disk management console to see if it sees seperate partitions or just sees the drive at a 40GB drive.

Plug the USB drive on another computer, I guess if there's malware/virus on your computer it is probably on the OS drive.

See if the whole drive is available on another computer at least and report back.

Try to run utility program that came with the drive and see what does it report. What is the file system on this drive

I pluged the USB drive to computer (and other computer also) and run diskmgmt.msc it show 40GB of Drive in it and other 70 GB diskspace unallocated, it was the 500GB of USB drive now I can see only 110GB of Drive it was running with NTFS file system no OS were installed in, it was used as a Data Container only..

Is there any way to get back with 500GB....
