Hi.
I just moved my system from a Coolermaster WaveMaster to a Antec 900 case. In the process, I thought I would upgrade from my awesome (but aging) 5000 BE which I had running at 3.1GHz to a Phenom 9950BE. When I completed the move to the new case and installed the Phenom, the system wouldn't boot. All of the fans and lights would come on in the case. It seemed as the the system was hanging. The 4870's fan was running at full speed and one of my DVDRW drive's lights was flickering constantly. But nothing would show on the screen at all. So, I decided to reset the CMOS. After I reset the CMOS and boot, the 4870's fan was no longer running at full speed. But the light on the DVDRW was still flickering and nothing would show on the screen.
Next I thought I would but the 5000 back in. The system boot just fine with the 5000, so I switched back to the Phenom and, again, no luck.
What could be the problem? Could me power supply be to small? I know the Phenom requires more power to run, but I thought I would at least get it to boot before I would encounter problems. I wasn't expecting a no-boot!
This is the fourth system I have built, and the first time I have ran into problems during the first boot. Guess the luck couldn't last forever.
I know the mobo is compatible with the 9950, because AMD has my mobo listed on their site of compatible boards. I cfhecked before I ordered the Phenom.
Any help or tips would be appreciated.
SPECS:
Phenom 9950 BE (or 5000 BE)
ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe
Antec Neo HE500
Visiontek 4870 512MB DDR5
WD Velociraptor 300Gb
WD Caviar 500Gb
Any ideas?
