That's the way prices with HDDs are right now. 250g and 320g are slow hdds which are not really worth it and 500gbs cost 10$ less than 1tb at best, so generally people just go for 1tb.

I want to change my Noname 200Gb (from ~2007). First I wanted to buy 250gb... which costs like 1Tb. Then I wanted to buy 500Gb, which costs same. So, 1Tb should be most effective use of money, but WHO THE HELL IN THE WORLD INSTALLS WINDOWS ON 1TB HDD?! I already have one, so I don't need more.
