Hello I am going to build a $500ish pc build! This build I’m making is going to be mine for maybe 3-6 months until parts are available for me then gift it to my buddy. I need to cut costs on this because it’s supposed to be around $500 and it’s closer to 1k including the gpu. I was wondering if you guys/gals could help me I need to find a gpu that fits my budget and will be awesome! I also have none of these computer components so I can change the whole build or a lot of it to save money or to get performance. Thank you for reading I hope you stay safe and have a nice rest of your day :)

Solution
5600g is a good option for an upgradable machine which can do esports gaming. A 5600g with igpu will likely need low settings to play more demanding games at 1080p while still maintaining a smooth FPS.

If you do not mind purchasing a used graphics card, you can get a lot better performance for your money than you would with a 5600g APU based system, even with the rest of the PC being brand new.

you won't find an "awesome" graphics card for even $500 on it's own.

for even "decent" basic components you are looking at;
motherboard = ~$125-200
CPU = ~$250-350
Memory = ~$75-125
Case = ~$70-150
Power Supply = ~$100-150

for a $500 build you are looking at a basic office desktop with no modern gaming in mind.

Alright, I was using awesome as I think all computer components are awesome. I understand this isn’t a AAA MAX graphics pc I just want a decent pc that me and my friend can play games at medium or high at 1080p. Also the build has a loose budget it is preferred if the pc is $500 but it can to $600 or something if needed.

Is there any way for me to get a ATX board with a mid tower case? Also what cpu cooler do you recommend, and does the board have bios flashback? Thanks for the helpful reply.

I also want to make sure the build can have decent FPS on 1080p. I want it to be better than my old laptop which should be easy. That is got about 19 FPS at 1080p on minecraft lol.

yes.
and any decent case will have it's supported motherboard sizes listed in it's product description.

you do realize that this partpicker PC listed here has no CPU cooler, no GPU, and no display?
for even a low-tier GPU that may be available you will be putting out a few more hundred dollars.
plus a decent CPU cooler, which could be from $40-75.
and if you have no desktop monitor for it, you're looking at another $200-400.

The 5600g can handle minecraft. Getting a GPU, in a $500 build, would take a good deal of luck, on the used market.

I kept an ATX form factor and all new parts with a good upgrade path.

The i3 10100f does not offer as much processing power as an Ryzen 5 5600g, but still performs very well for gaming. An Nvidia GTX 770 generally offers performance near a GTX1050ti, and much more performance than the integrated graphics portion of a Ryzen 5 5600g. Overall I would expect this route to offer double or more performance in games, mostly down to the graphics cards performance.

GTX770 prices vary, but you generally can find them for $100-125, sometimes less, sometimes more. If you can get a 4gb card for similar price, I would reccomend that. If not, a 2gb card still will perform well.

If you NEED to stay as close to $500 as possible, it IS possible, but you have to make significant sacrifices. I would reccomend spending the extra.

Lower wattage but still sufficient power supply, much lower end case and motherboard, cheaper SSD.

A couple things, based on your questions.

Just to be clear, the 5600g is nothing but a stopgap. You can play SOME games at low settings, or more games if you down resolutions to 720p. At some point you may stumble on a GPU which you can toss in, and the 5600g will start performing like a 3700x, which isn't terrible. You should definitely read this to see what it can play and what it cannot.

The 5600g will slot into any B450 or B550. I went with a budget board above, but you can pick from just about aby 450 or 550. BIOS flashback is probably important unless you want to borrow a processor from AMD to update BIOS. When you find a board, just make sure the 5600g is a supported processor. It likely is, but just check to be sure on the manufacturers website in the CPU support list.

Mobo size can be anything you want it to be, as long as it fits in your case. Case is purely an aesthetic choice. Just make sure it isn't an oven and has some mesh. I like the Phanteks P series as a generally good budget option with great air flow and fans included.

5600g comes with a cooler. It will be noisy, but it will work fine.

For RAM, 2 x 8 @ 3200 or 3600, CAS 16 is ideal. Brand usually doesn't matter, just pick something you have heard of (G.Skill, Team Group, Corsair, Crucial, etc.)

I will take your advise with spending more so I don’t lose out in this case $70 more. Also thanks for clearing the 5600G up I think I will go for the 770. Also is there a amd alternative for the cpu and motherboard?
