500mbps powerline adapter slower than wireless n300 ???

just got my self pair of d-link 500mbps powerline adapters and im suprised that is slower than my wireless n300 am i doing something wrong??
on n300 i get 9.5 mb/s file transfer from my usb hdd attached to router
on d-link 500mbps its 4 mb/s
i would thought that it will be much faster :??:

Anything with a large motor like a floor fan can cause interference -- putting the motor device on a 4-6 foot extension cord works as well as any interference suppressor out there. Also, do not use them on GFI circuits.

Powerline adapters don't exactly hit their marketed values. You are now getting about what I would expect. HERE is a good site to see what speeds to expect for different adapters.

so it won't get any faster even with filters etc. :/ damn just spend 30 pounds on 3 of those d-link with a hope of fast file transfer. oh well thanks for info :)
 
I hope this could help.
We had a pc and we used the powerline for about a year and they did great. Two weeks ago the motherboard cracked and so we built a new pc (new motherboard, new power supply, new ethernet card and so on) but our internet connection had became really slow. So we tried everything, but in the end we found out what the problem was...the new power supply making interference. As we put the old power supply back everything went normal again. Problem solved
