500w psu for 440w system?

Is it safe to run my 440w system on CORSAIR Builder Series CX 500 Watt 80+

I wouldn't run any CX series, to begin with, unless absolutely necessary. I definitely would not run one with such a high load.

Only pick that PSU if you aren't planning on doing much more than browsing the internet and light media (no graphics intensive games). The CX line is known for using low-quality components and is not meant for gaming.

If you want a second option for the PSU I recommend the XFX TS Series 550W. This is a high-quailty tier 2 PSU that will power your rig just fine:

You will be much better off using the lowest cost 520-550W Seasonic PSU you can find. Seasonic simply does not build a bad power supply, everything they make is well engineered and extremely reliable.

Doesn't necessarily have to be Seasonic branded. Seasonic makes plenty of PSU's, for other vendors. Superflower built PSU's are great too. Best bet is to stick with Tier1 and Tier 2 units. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html
