51-60 cpu usage while watching one video

Solution
ok well cpu usage spiking when you open task manager is totally normal. my 5ghz shoots up to 100 percent when i open task manager. it is very brief but i am running at 5 ghz.

it sounds like you are looking at your overall cpu usage, so really, you dont know what is using your cpu. you can see which specific programs are using what if you look

your cpu is fine. its not the cpu. it is just a lack of understanding/possible software issues.
which gpu, which player, what format and resolution are the video. details!

just for reference, my system (posted below) uses about 6 percent cpu with a 720p x264 video with mpc. that is mpc using 6 percent. not overall usage. have you checked exactly how much the video player is using?

I know only 1440x900 resolution video 720 and flash player btw that happened for first time its kinda strange i get in ac4 40-50 usage and now on a youtube video 50-60

i deleted that post. i checked and i actually get very low usage with flash at 720p. seems adobe has done a better job of offloading the work to the gpu than it was in the past. do you have a dedicated gpu or are your using what is built into the cpu?

flash is notorious for being buggy too. maybe uninstall and reinstall it. make sure it is up to date etc.

not a great card but you would think it would be good enough to unload the work off the cpu. im stumped. sorry mate. not sure about the dwm thing, never touched it.

edit: oh right, i forgot hardware acceleration was a setting. it's always been naturally on for me.

How often were you analyzing your CPU usage while watching a video?

In my short experiment the Star Citizen trailer at 720P was putting my PII 955 @ 30% CPU usuage, which if it had half as many cores would be ~60%. The important thing to note here is that watching CPU-z at the same time showed that my CPU rarely kicked out of 800MHz mode, it was willing to go up to 40% load without kicking up the frequency because it really didn't need to.

Hm when i click trobleshoot in display the icon is white and dont give me to open it

Don't worry strange but that doesn't happen now hm i think its a virus or some system bug but is my cpu decent?

Its not often but i really like to watch how cpu's are running etc sometimes i just start the task mng to see the performance i do it in games tho and before hour just stratdet it while watching pewdiepie and 50-61 usage sometimes it goes to 40 50 and then to 8-20 but not it stayed on 50 to 60 and then i closed the chrome started it again along with the manager simultaneously with the chrome and it goes to 72 usage

Im a newbie so i will try to answer this am starting together google chrome and task manager and when the manager shows the cpu usage goes to 94 or 81 or 51 or 65 then slowly goes to 3 or 0
