[SOLVED] 512 PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD or 512 GB Intel SSD + 32 GB Intel Optane (HP Spectre 360)

Are both of these PCIe, or is the Optane option via SATA? I can't tell on the web site, and no one at HP seems to be able to give me a verifiable answer. The HP system configurator seems to suggest that Optane is the more expensive (sc. better) option and is on sale at the NVMe price. I would think that Optane with PCIe would be best. The Optane is paired with an Intel SSD M.2 SATA disk , since you won't see any difference (most scenarios) in performance when paired with a NVMe disk.

With an SSD of any type as the main drive, ignore the Optane config entirely.

The Optane module in that is a small 32GB cache thing. It is not a usable drive by itself.

I'm confused. Why is HP selling an SSD with Optane as a main drive if it makes no difference with an SSD? Is the Optane drive an M.2 (PCIe) SSD? Which is better for this computer?

Why? Because they can, and it looks good in the advertisement.

It's basically using a small fast drive as cache space for an already fast large drive.

Just get the 512GB NVMe option, and skip the Optane thing.
