hey all, i recently moved my hp 700-329 into thermaltake view 31 and now everytime i boot up my computer it asks me to press f1 and it says 512-rear chassis fan not found. what do i do to remove the error?

Solution

I've done some reading and unfortunately not that I know of. I'd recommend getting a fan that is the same or putting that old fan back in the new build. :)

Cheers and best of luck,

Sounds like your bios is looking for the fan as a security to prevent overheating, try connecting another fan into the same connector that the rear chassis fan was connected to. Make sure your fan has the same amount of pins as the stock one. According to some research i did its the only way to disable the error and it must be a 3 pin fan to 3 pin connector etc.

Best of luck :)

Hi Imnvum, i checked the connectors of the fan that im using now and the chassis fan and they have the same amount of pins, if i ignore the error will my pc be damaged?

Is it the same connector that the chassis fan of your old case was connected to? And is it a fan with less rpm?
If it spins up at a lower rpm it will not be detected as the same fan in the bios no matter correct the connection on the mobo is :)

Cheers and good luck,

Most likely no major failure but it might lead to the temp sensors playing up and you GPU or CPU cooler not working properly which can ultimately cause the definite failure of either or.
