Hi there -

I'm looking to buy a new rig; I'm hoping to run a dual-monitor setup off one R9 290. I'm in the UK; the Gigabyte R9 290 WIndforce looks to be my best available option.

Would I be able to run, say, Arma 3 at max settings at 5120*1440 at a respectable FPS off this card? (I'm debating buying 2 of them, and running 3 monitors. I've read 2xR9290s is sufficient to run ARMA 3 at ultra at 7680*1440).

1) TWO monitors is a bad idea because the gap is right in the middle.

2) I'd stick with a SINGLE 2560x1440 anyway. I can sit pretty close to my 27" monitor but if I had three of them I'd have to sit a lot further back which I think defeats the purpose.

3) G-SYNC is coming out for new monitors and it's really awesome. I'd recommend the ASUS SWIFT version (2560x1440, 120Hz, TN). Requires a GTX600 or better from NVidia.

So my advice is get that monitor and a single GTX780Ti.
