512k vs 1Mb L2 cache

I have been doing some research on the AMD CPUs (looking to build a computer in the near future). I saw that some of them have 512k cache and some have 1Mb. What sort of performance gains could be expected from the extra cache? are the 1Mb chips worth the extra money? Sorry for the noob question.... Thanks guys!

Hehe, funny thing: The ones with 1MB cache perform better, clock for clock. Because of that, AMD clocks them 200MHz slower for the same rating. The higher frequency gives more performance than the added cache, however, the ones with more cache overclock just as far so they'd be preferable to that type of person.
