Has anyone had any problems using 512megs with Win98SE? I'm about to upgrade to 512... just wanted to make sure. I've read reports that ME has problems- but not 98.

512 MB shouldn't be a problem, anything higher than that and Windows 95/98/ME has problems managing it all.

Yes, 512MB is OK but here is some information from Microsoft on the problem.

<A HREF="http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q253/9/12.ASP" target="_new">http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q253/9/12.ASP</A>.

CYBERIMAGE claims that you can overcome this problem with a lot of memory like 1.5 or 2 GB and simply turning off virtual memory. I don't have enough memory to verify this.

I just put another stick of 256 in my computer and it is only coming up as 384. if you figure it 512 minus 256 comes out as 128? Not sure why but I am trying to find the same stuff as you... I am running 98se. here is my email jamesbstanley2@usa.net

Who is CYBERIMAGE? I am looking into getting some more memory (1.5G), and lucky I read this information because I had no idea of this memory limitation of Windows95/98/ME.

He's a poster in these forums. Haven't seen him for a while. He was ticked-off by another poster, here, who he believed was trashing his website/business of the same name. If I remember correctly, someone was allegedly placing false and very bad claims at a certain online rating service.

Anyway, I gave credit to the person, CYBERIMAGE, who posted the notion of a workaround for the Windows 9X/ME memory limitations. I wouldn't have thought of it.
