I recently finished building a new computer and have noticed that my memory usage is particularly high, even when i'm not running a lot. My OS is Windows 8.1 64 bit, and I have 16 GB of ram installed. Here is what my task manager looks like: http://i.imgur.com/xDTXKCP.png

Also, I left steam running overnight to download games, and when I came back 7 hours later the memory usage was at 95% and I had to reboot before I could do anything. How would I go about finding out whats causing these high memory usages?

Solution
Hi there,

I myself had a similar problem, my memory usage would go up to 97% out of nowhere and in seconds. I solved this by using a memory manager program called 'Memory Cleaner', it controls the usage of ram not allowing memory leaks like the one you're probably having.

If you decide to give it a shot, after installing it, go into the Options tab and tick all the boxes but the last one.

Let us know if it worked for you ;-)

So yeah... First off thanks for the response. I downloaded Memory Cleaner, ticked every box but the last one and left it running overnight while I tried to finish downloading steam games. Came back in the morning, memory usage 97% and CPU usage 1%, computer unusable. :/
