Question 5400RPM HDD in NAS for streaming 4k videos

Hi all, I have a Dlink DNS 323 nas which I want to store all my 4k .mkv movies so I can stream them on my HTPC. the nas is connected to my 100Mbps network. If I put a Western Digital Red 5400PRM HDD in there, would that cause any buffering/studdering? they guy at the store said 5400RPM vs 7200RPM wouldn't make a difference because the bottleneck is the 100Mbps network speed. Is this correct?

actually the ironwolf is 6Gp/s, not 3. i'm going to get it instead of the WD red since its on sale and cheaper.

you're saying the sata 6Gbs isn't any faster than the 3Gbs right?

Correct.
If your car has a top speed of 50mph (spinning HDD), it does not matter if the road has a speed limit of 80mph (SATA II) or 120mph (SATA III)

SATA I, II, III
1.5Gbs, 3Gbs, 6Gbs.

Different protocols and theoretical performance levels.
Basically, the fastest possible speed with that particular protocol. That does NOT mean a particular device can transfer at that speed.

An SSD will almost max out a SATA III connection.
An HDD won't max out a SATA II connection.

A spinning drive that says "SATA III (6Gbs)" only means that it can connect to a SATA III port, not that it can transfer data at that rate.

A particular device may not be able to feed it at that rate, but the capability is there if you were using a different device.
