[SOLVED] 5500 XT VS RX 590

So I currently have a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 590

I bought a XFX THICC II 5500xt, I was going to try to return it but Newegg is making it such a chore to return it.

Is the 5500xt any better then the RX 590 or is it gonna be a major downgrade?

I'm planning to go with a i5 10400 processor and 16gb of ram.

I currently have a Ryzen 2600 with 8gb of ram.

I don't play anything crazy right now, just Call of Duty but I wanna get Cyberpunk 2077.

Solution
what I was reading online was saying the 590 was better so why was pretty sure should return the 5500xt
You could go for a 10400F instead , no igpu and get a 1660 Super or Ti. They're between the 5500 XT and 5600 XT and are a slight upgrade to the 590.

As seen from benchmark videos even a 2080 Ti doesn't really bottleneck a 3300X. The i3-10100F is an equivalent, slightly slower I believe but then if you replace that 2080 Ti with a super, you end up with no bottleneck again

What I'm trying to say is, 10100F + 5600XT/2060

Or 10400F + 1660 Super/Ti.

This is probably a better deal than 10400 + 5500XT
Dont waste your money on changing to the 10400 or the 5500xt
those two are a pointless side grade

what you already have is very much the same thing. The performance difference will be negligible ,

For a cpu look for the 5600x or a 3900x if you need an upgrade.
Sell your current ram and get a faster 16GB kit.

5500xt might even be slower than your current gpu

I am building a new computer because my mom is officially working at home permanently and she took over my computer lol

I don't have the money for massive upgrades like a $500 processor...

If I can get the 5500xt returned, I was gonna go with a 5600xt...

I was just wondering how much worse the 5500xt was compared to a rx 590 and if it was worth this pain in the ass to return it.

I still haven't got the 5500xt and was suppose to have it 3wks ago lol

Nobody even has graphic cards in stock right now so gonna get cpu first then I'll have more credit to get a graphics card lol

Only cards I'm finding are $800 and never be in my budget lol max I'll end up spending is $320-350

Either gonna come down to a i5 10400 or a ryzen 5 3600

Idk about switching to intel, never used them lol

Intel is good in some areas, such as price right now because amd stocks are low. 10400 has igpu. 10400F does not. 3600 doesn't have one either.

If you don't have anything to use as a gpu rn you can only go for the 10400, 3600 is out of the question. But value wise, the 10400F is like $160-170 sometimes, while 3600 is usually $200 + barely ever 199. So 10400F is also great value. Another thing you can do is, buy the 10400.

Wait for RTX 3050 to come out. The 3060 Ti is based on the 3070 GPU (GA104) and is just $400. Most likely the 3060 and 3050 will be the same gpu (GA106) and will be in the $250-350 range.

It's gonna be like 3mos before buy a graphics card at this point if return the 5500xt so maybe be more options available by then lol

I was gonna go with the 10400 mostly so could buy something else to go with so can use my full credit lol more buy and pay off, higher limit I'll get for a graphics card.

Yeah then I'd suggest returning the 5500XT and buying i5-10400. You just have to get by 3 months with integrated graphics then it's RTX goodness for you lol.

Another plus point is you don't have to spend on a mobo. It makes no sense. i5 locked, can't run RAM past 2666 lol. B460m DS3H is a good budget pick if you wanna save money

None of the upgrades your are talking about are worth the money. The video cards are about even as far as performance. the processor is not enough to make a difference since your limited by the card anyhow.

Get 16GB of memory instead and a SSD to load your games on.

As I stated above this is a whole new build as myom has my old build for her work computer now

I'm comparing what I had to what I can afford to buy.
