Last month I build a pc and was using a GTX980ti which was working great but since I had to take it apart to install a watercooling loop and with the arrival of Pascal just around the corner I decided to return it to the store and use my 550ti in the meantime, and it worked just fine the first I used it I played on it for about 2 hrs, the next day my computer would turn on but before it got to the sign in screen the monitor went black and it said "no dvi input " the weird thing is that I have no problem when I go into the bios or start safe mode.
I did reinstall the drivers for the gpu and used a different monitor but the problem persists
Any suggestions?
My system:

Windows 10 64bit
Asus sabertooth z170 mark I
Intel i7-6700k
Evga 16 Gb DDR4 2400
Evga supernova 850 psu
Evga GTX 550ti 2gb

Solution
Dude I had a similar problem with my gtx 1060 zotac
The solution is to change your power connector to your GPU
Usually it's the voltage problem
If enough amount of current isn't supplied to your GPU
It's either a psu issue or your GPU power connector is faulty try changing it
Hopefully u have a 450W and above psu for your GPU

So I did a clean install (again) but this time I took the gpu out and connected the monitor directly to the motherboard using a hdmi cable, this time the display stayed on, sweet!
I got rid of GeForce experience as recommended and deleted all driver versions from my hard drive, went ahead and re-downloaded the latest driver and booted into safe mode to use DDU, everything fine so far
So when I restart into desktop and start the installation as soon as the driver starts installing (you know when your screen flashes and does the resolution) I hear Windows sound letting me know a new device has been connected then the screen goes black again and monitor into sleep mode. So now I know it's the driver will have to download an older version I suppose
Thanks for the input!
