[SOLVED] 5600x ram speed support

i have a 5600x and 16gb of 2300 crucial ballistix ram, and im wondering if it can support higher speeds. on amds website it says it can only go up to 3200mhz but it says like 3600 on other websites. Im wondering what is the actual highest it can support, and if it is higher, how can i oc it

Ran speed has to be supported by both the Motherboard and CPU, mostly the manufacturer website is 100 percent right.

RAM frequency isn't the only thing that matter in RAM specification and so, for example, some 2933Mhz RAM can actually be faster than 3200MHz.
Saying that, yes, I'm quite sure you can use 3600MHz RAM, but you probably won't notice speed increase in real usage (outside benchmarks). And finally, if it doesn't work (instability), then there's no one you can blame. Now you decide if it's worth to try...

Your MB can handle up to 5100MHz RAM and CPU in excess of 4000MHz.

Yes first it's your motherboard, for eg mine supports 4000mhz oc, and my 3600 native support is 3200mhz, technically you run the ram in oc, in xmp mode in bios, so my 3600 can do upto 3600mhz stable

NO......your mobo and cpu have been tested to support 3200.
If you go above that your into R+D mode.
It may work or not.

Yes, it should providing it's good RAM. (Preferably with Samsung b-die chips).
"(OC)" in 5100(OC)/ 5000(OC)/ 4866(OC)/ 4800(OC)/ 4600(OC)/ 4533(OC)/ 4400(OC)/ 4300(OC)/ 4266(OC)/ 4200(OC)/ 4133(OC)/ 4000(OC)/ 3866(OC)/ 3733(OC)/ 3600(OC)/ 3466(OC)/ 3400(OC)/ 3333(OC)/ 3300(OC)
refers to IMC (Internal Memory Controller) located in the processor. in your case 3200MHz and it's considered an overclock if memory has to run at higher frequency.
*Note: RAM frequency and speed are not same thing. "Speed " is actually performance that's influenced by frequency, latency etc.
Speaking of performance, Ryzen is still "happiest" with 3600MHz RAM with as low Cas latency (Cl16 or less) as possible, above that gains are quickly diminishing unless you need and use software that is greatly dependent on memory speed.
So, for best performance/price ratio, I'd suggest you get 3600MHZ RAM from from QVL that has lowest Cl at 3600MHz. and use XMP to set it.

It can handle it, but to actually use 4000MT/s you have to tweak ram timings and settings. Don't bother with anything faster than 3600 on Ryzen 3000/5000, because you wont really gain any benefit because of how the Infinity Fabric works with ram speeds. 2x8GB, 4x8GB or 2x16GB are still the "sweet spot" for 16-32GB of ram. 3200 is still a good speed if you can't afford or find 3600 to fit your budget. Don't buy 3600 with higher than CL18, because lower cas latency (CL) is better, but CL16 usually costs 35% or more over CL18 kits for only around 7fps more performance.
