So ive read debate after debate over the 2 cards, i know 6950 is stronger for the most part. Alot of people telling others to get the 2gig 6950 ect. I am looking to spend around 300-350$ and purchase 2 things, a new card, and a new case for better air flow, so whatever I dont spend on a card, will go towards a case. Im wondering if the 2g 6950 will be over kill for what games I play, single monitor at about 1280x1024 or a tad higher res. Looking to get a new card for upcomming MMO stwor so i can enjoy the game with some higher graphics. Here are my current specs. I am leaning towards the 6950 so I can have a card that will keep me gaming for the next year+ on higher settings as new games come out. Which the 560ti may be able to do that or will I be wanting a new card in a year if i go 560.

AMD Phen 955 II x4 CPU
AMD xfx 1gig 5870 GPU
8 gigs of 10666 ram
windows 7 64bit
750w psu

I know its an old worn out question, do you think 1 gig or vram will easily do me for a while or is 2gig gonna be the new standard soon?

1. Get a new monitor that has a higher res before you get a new graphics card otherwise your just wasting your money.

2. 1gb vs 2gb vdram, there is no difference unless you start going above 1980x1200 or have a eyefinity setup.

3. get like a 6850/6870 or gtx 560 and use the money saved to help buy a new monitor.

To answer your main question, yes either 560/560ti/6950 can do the task for you (given your current resolution). If you still keep using that monitor in a year then any of your choices would still be fine. An extra 1GB of VRAM won't matter in your situation.
