Many thanks to those that responded to my previous related post about replacing my GeForce 2 ultra.

Now, I have the possibility of getting an oem Leadtek 5900 for only a small amount more than a 5700 ultra. Would this be a clearly better option? I don't want anything that will add to the noise of my system although my Antec PSU would take a lot of beating on that front.

5900, it has a 256bit memory bus which makes it more powerful then the others.

I got a 5900 from leadtek pretty nice and quiet I recommand it if you can get a nice price.
If your looking to play future DX9 games it was proven that a 9600pro would perform better with these.
Comments like stay away from ATI are from biased ppl most likely fanboy dont listen to them....

The 5900 I have my eye on is the bottom of the range Leadtek (I think) - it's the LX with 128 MB of "integrated memory" (bad thing?).

I'm looking for a decnt upgrade from my GeForce 2 ultra and tend to like games like flight sims, train sims, Homeworld, Total War etc.

Would the 9600XT be better than the 9600 Pro? I put a lot of weight on stability and prefer quiet, which I don't currently have due to my PSU.

I suppose the choice is between the 5700 ultra, the 9600XT or, for a bit extra, the very vanilla 5900......
