If I buy a RX 5700 XT today; Do I have to flash the card bios so I can get better performance?

You're getting confused with the 5600XT or 5700.
RX 5700 can be flashed to the 5700 XT bios to get similar performance to the XT
RX 5600XT can be flashed to an up to date bios of the 5600XT to get higher power limits and boost clocks.

5700XT cannot be flashed to anything for performance gains.

Apologies I wasn't clear. I'm referring to this MSI Radeon RX 5700 XT . I have read about problems with this card and bios flash.

What sort of problems? I don't see any reason to flash a 5700XT, or anything to flash it to.

Well thete has been cases of blacked and green screens. The bios flash will increase clock speed and a couple of thing that I can remember now. They say they do this to match up with tje RTX2060. I thought this was common knoledge. BTW this comes from youtube.

You're mixing this up with the 5600XT. The 5600XT is the one which has a bios flash to match the RTX 2060.
