DX9 baby:) But ATi's high end owns all. Funny because this was a game nVidia had major influence in. <A HREF="http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/editorial/display/stalker_5.html" target="_new">http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/editorial/display/stalker_5.html</A>

It depends. The 5700U has an incredible vertex engine that <b>under proper conditions</b> can really fly. I had one for two days, and I was really impressed with it.

Hmm...is that the leaked version of stalker? The graphic isnt on bar with HL2 anyway  .

PS. Look at the hit FX took with AA/AF  .

It puts up good numbers in some runs, but in all the FSAA + aniso benches it gets hammered. The ati cards take their standard small hit, but the 5700U gets pounded by that stuff.

I like to run AA and aniso myself so that's always a big thing for me.

Some day I'll be rich and famous for inventing a device that allows you to stab people in the face over the internet.

You talking to me? Are you talkin' to me? Then who the hell else are you talkin' to?
You talkin' to me? Well I'm the only one here. Who do you think you're talking to?
Oh yeah... Huh? Ok!?!

Hey I know the FX5700U has it's strengths.

I'd be interested in seeing if driver tweaks would help. Like you say it is an nV TWIMTBP project that they've been talking about for over a year now, so I'm not surprised.

Do you know if it's a VS 2.0-centric games like the X2 Demo?

That would explain a heck of alot. 3 vertex engines versus 2 is almost the equivalent of the diff. between the two. Still the R9600 series does remain playable pretty much throughout the tests even with AA/AF for the most part (except 16x12 has a 'too low' dip). Nice to see that at least. 1280x1024 playble (heck even 16x12 without AA/AF), that's good news for me for a while.

Still would need more than 1 new game to change my outlook on the line in general, but the FX5700U is definitely a worthy competitor of the R9600 line. Look how dismally the FX5600U does. The FX5700U is, as I said when there was a request for input about the buyer's guide, the only FX that I felt was worth it's money. Since then the FX5900XT/SE/LS has been added to that list, too bad they didn't show the performance of one of those.

I also find it funny the Volari does SOOooo poorly. I think that's your <b>real</b> motivation for posting this. Evil!

What the guy above said. Best card ever made = 9700pro.

16 months on and its still up there, and if overclocked a bit, its on par with the best.

The game maybe better tailored for the 5700 than the 9600. Try enabling some filtering then lets see the scores again.

Barton 2500+ @ 2200mhz (10x220 vcore @ 1.8)
Asus A7N8X Dlx 440 FSB
1gb Geil GD pc3500 Dual Channel (2-3-3-6)
Segata 80gb SATA 8.5ms seek
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro(420/720)

As it turns out, the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. leak has no shaders, no bump mapping, and no real mentionable effects....I dont even know why they bothered benchmarking with it. I guess they new it would attract hits to their site. They are also the ones who used the leaked HL2 code to benchmark with.

Wow!

"KILLS" you misused this word in your subject.

We should have read :
Without AA 5700U is better than 9600XT
With AA 9600XT is better than 5700U

We really need to see BIG difference to call a product KILLER!

The title elicited the appropriate response.

You don't title something: 'The Bland Benchmark no one cares about', you title it: 'The Benchmarks that will change your view of the world, and your place in it'. Of course you want the post to at least be about Benchmarking. The above would apply mainly to the R9600 and FX5700 owners which were the initial target of the bard post, and therefore the title would be accurate.

And, if you do look at the graphs there is validity in the title even if it only tells half the story.
